LOCATION & GROUNDS
Channel Marker 71 Barrier Island Inn and Restaurant is nestled
on the southern end of the barrier island, Anastasia Island,
St. Augustine, Florida. Our 650' dock has a vista of the
Intracoastal Waterway, conservation land, protected estuaries,
bird sanctuaries, and Fort Matanzas. Fort Matanzas is the "other" historical
monument of St. Augustine, the oldest city in America.
Fort Matanzas was constructed in 1740-1742 as a Spanish
outpost to guard the Matanzas Inlet and to warn the city
of St. Augustine of the British or other enemies approaching
from the south. The dock & the Intracoastal Waterway
provide a natural backdrop that compliments every wedding
party's photo from casual to formal.
On site there are two pools; a resistance swimming pool and
a Jacuzzi. A true Turkish pool, separated by a half wall
with a column in the center supporting a cantilevering
roof deck protecting the pool from rain. The pools are
waterfront and give the sense of being a participant of
a natural habitat of the wetlands.
ACCOMMODATIONS & APPOINTMENTS
Channel Marker 71 Barrier Island Inn and Restaurant offers
ten luxurious
appointments, all- unique with excellent amenities. The grandeur
and
tropical spender of the spacious appointment demand the attention
to the
architectural detail & interior design that arouses anyone's'
sensuality.
Our five signature suites have waterfront balcony views,
and either have a
Jacuzzi or a shower spa. All appointments are lavishly decorated
in a true
Mediterranean style, have mini refrigerators, and DSL ports.
The guestroom prices at our introductory rates range from
$189 to $289. All rooms include a breakfast menu specially
selected by our resident chef.

AVAILABILITY & REQUIREMENTS
Channel Marker 71 Barrier Island Inn and Restaurant would
be delighted to host your rehearsal dinner, wedding & reception
at our luxurious tropical
paradise, but we have restrictions to protect everyone
involved. We have
limited space on our calendar for 2006- 2008, so please be
sure to confirm
your date as soon as possible.
When our staff is providing the attention demanded by any
function, we find we are unable to adequately meet the needs
of other guests who are also saying at the Inn, but are not
a part of all the wedding activities, laughter, excitement,
and noise. When your wedding guests are our guests, everyone
can enjoy the festivities, and no one feels left out.
Channel Marker 71 Barrier Island Inn and Restaurant requires
rental of (5) suites for wedding parties with 15-25 guests,
and rental of all (10) rooms for parties with 25 or more
guests. Each guest will be required to secure their room
with a major credit card for incidentals and damages that
may occur during the celebration.
The size of our Inn demands we maximize reservation capacity,
and if we offer (1) weekend night, we lose the opportunity
to fully reserve for the weekend. When celebrating your event,
we require a minimum number of (2) nights per guest room
rental on weekends. This provides some space & privacy
for the bridal party the evening before the ceremony, changing
area for the bride and groom and their attendants. Your guests
will enjoy a relaxing weekend while they shop, see the historical
district of St. Augustine, and get acquainted with new relatives.
Sunday afternoon weddings do not require guest room rental
minimums, but
are subjected to a flat rental rate for the use of the facility.
For parties of 15-25 $800.00, and for parties more than 30-60
guest $1,200 excluding food & drink.
Space will not be held for any period of time without an
executed contract
accompanied by a non-refundable deposit. The deposit is half
of the total wedding package cost and is applied towards
the balance of the wedding. The balance must be paid in full
14 days before the ceremony. Additional deposits may be required
for extra services and rentals.
CATERING FOOD & BEVERAGES
Channel Marker 71 Barrier Island Barrier Island Inn and
Restaurant restricts all catering to our "on premise" Restaurant,
the Jewel of the Sea. Exceptions will be made for wedding
cakes.
The Jewel of the Sea specializes in a gourmet Floribbean
(Floridian /
Caribbean) cuisine. Your entire party will savor our Caribbean
seasoned
fresh local seafood, chicken, and Black Angus beef dishes.
Our menu is
diversified and has the capabilities of providing proposals
for a rehearsal
dinner, wedding reception whether they are sit down dinners,
heavy or light
hors d' oeuvres. Special dietary needs and vegetarian dishes
are also offered upon request.
Our Restaurant is open to the public, and can seat up to
40 inside dinner guests. On a typical night, we experience
several table turnovers. Our restaurant does generate a sizable
income; therefore, a dinning room rental will be assessed
of $800.00 for evenings and $1,200.00 for the entire day. Restaurant rental fees may be waived if Channel Marker 71 Barrier Island Inn and Restaurant hosts both the rehearsal dinner and wedding reception with the exception of $18 minimum food cost for parties less than 25 wedding guests.
Wine, beer, and a champagne toast packages are addressed
separately. Liability waivers must be signed prior, to the
wedding by the individual responsible for the bill. Non-
alcoholic beverages have a flat fee depending on the size
of the party, and are typically included in dinner and heavy
hors d'oeuvre menus.
Customary $100.00 per server and 6% Sales and 3% Bed Tax
will apply. No alterations permitted to the Wedding Package
after contract signed. Final guest count must be submitted
within 7 days before the event. After that every date, additional
guests will be charged accordingly.
CEREMONY & LOCATION
May people do not want a religious ceremony due to the
couples' religious
diversification. We at Channel Marker 71 Barrier Island
Inn and Restaurant
feel that the actual sanction of marriage is a sacred ceremony
within itself.
Therefore it leaves the bride & groom with their choice
as to who will
perform their ceremony, and the vows that will bind them
together. Our
in-house Notary may perform the ceremony for a minimum fee
of $125.00. Your minister is welcome to perform your ceremony,
or we will assist you in
locating a member of the clergy of your choice. We offer
several perfect on site locations for outside wedding ceremonies.
There are no additional fees for any of the six locations
that follow:
1. There are three locations on our 650 foot dock for a standing
ceremony.
2. The Labyrinth maze with a waterfront backdrop.
3. The front & back porch of the main house.
LENGTH OF TIME OF WEDDING & RECEPTION
Exclusive use of The Jewel of the Sea Dinning Room and
outside serving area
will not exceed (5) hours. This provides our staff with
the time parameter
for clean up.
WEDDING CONSULTING:
We do provide additional wedding consulting services to
discuss menu planning, decorating, arrangements for cakes,
tents, tables, chairs, etiquette, flowers, videography, or
whisking you away in a boat. Anything else you may need to
complete your wedding may be contracted on an hourly basis.
These services are especially helpful for our out of town
brides.
CANCELLATIONS:
Wedding cancellations must be done in writing at least 120
days prior to the final balance due date or you will be responsible
for the balance. Return of the deposits are subjected to the terms and conditions signed by the owner and the wedding party. A ten (10) day grace period from the date of contract will be given to the Customer. If cancellation occurs within three (3) days of contract, a full refund ill be issued. If cancellation occurs after the initial three (3) days, all monies paid, as down payment will be refunded, with the exception of a $200.00 administrative fee to remove all charges from the service calendars. In the event the Customer cancels the event or this agreement after ten (10) days from the date of the contract, the Facility will be entitled to the following damages: a.) 50% of the total contract price to date, b.) a $200.00 administrative fee to remove all charges from service calendars, and c.) full payment for any personalized or speciality items already ordered by the facility on the customer's behalf. The parties agree that these are liquidated damages and not a penalty. If cancellation occurs less than one hundred and twenty (120) days prior to the event date, Facility will be entitled to the following damages: a.) 75% of the total contract price to date, b.) a $200.00 administrative fee to remove all charges from service calendars, and c.) full payment for any personalized or speciality items already ordered by the Facility on the Customer's behalf. The parties agree that these are liquidated damages and not a penalty. If cancellation by Customer occurs less than sixty (60) days prior to Event date, Chapel will be entitles to the following damages: a.) 100% of the total contract price to date, b.) a $200.00 administrative fee to remove all charges from service calendars, and c.) full payment for any personalized or speciality items already ordered by the Facility on the Customer's behalf. Any previously booked people services such as Ministers, Limos, photographers, ect. cannot be cancelled, and full payment will be required. All parties agree that these are liquidated damages and not a penalty.
