Johns County Beaches, Anastasia Island, walking
distance to Crescent Beach & 1 mile north of Marineland.

The Verdant Surroundings of Barrier Island Inn
Directly on the Intracoastal Water Way with boating access,
the Inn hosts a 650-foot boardwalk dock. Guests enjoy
viewing the protected estuaries, an Audubon lovers' bird
sanctuary, manatees, and the 1740 National Monument Fort
Matanzas. Across the river is a newly acquired 4,200
acres conservation land by the U.S. Forestry, Fort Mantanzas.
Opening as a Bed and Breakfast in 2001, the owners quickly
realized they were an exclusive marina resort complete
with a full service restaurant, Jewel of the Sea, gift
shop, Off the Lip Ocean Gear & Gifts, and ten luxurious
appointments, all unique with excellent amenities including
mini refrigerators, cable TV, phones, Internet access,
and private baths. The five signature suites host waterfront
balcony views with Jacuzzis or shower spas. All qualify
as honeymoon suites. The grandeur and the tropical splendor
demand the attention of the Spanish architectural detail
and interior design arousing everyone's sensuality.
Original Spanish quarter tile throughout the structure,
antiques, and designer furnishings have been employed in
the eclectic interior design. It is perfect location for
corporate retreats, coastal weddings, or a romantic get
away. The area is known for its golf amenities,
charter fishing, and now with the Island Massage
and Skin opening just a mile north of the inn, the girl's
get-a-way spa packages are in hot demand. On site
there are 2 pools, a resistance swimming pool and a Jacuzzi.
The pools are marsh & waterfront. While relaxing in
the pools, bathers become participants with the natural
habitat whether by day or the evening constellation.
The Jewel of the Sea, our Inn-house restaurant is
open to the public Wed- Sunday serving brunch and dinner.
It hosts a panoramic view of the Intracoastal Water Way
and breathtaking sunsets. With the casual atmosphere of
coastal living, evening attire is anything from nautical
wear to dinner jackets and cocktail dresses. A handcrafted
wine cellar adorns the dinning area and is stocked with
three hundred bottles of domestic and imported wines as
well as beers. Featuring every Wed. night wine tasting
on the dock and dinner following, a little Wine 101. Fares
are reasonably priced, and all specialties featuring EuroFloribbean
cuisine, that is European / Floridian / Caribbean. Gourmands
will savor Black Angus beef, local seafood, pasta, and
chicken dishes served by Bryant Loeffler Executive Chef
and Brittany Michael Sous Chef.
Reservations are required as the restaurant is popular
with the locals and special events are often booked a year
in advance.
The Oldest City in the Nation is also known for romantic
get-a-ways and weddings. The Inn hosts several weekend
weddings throughout the year up to 150 guests with full
service catering capabilities. The Intracoastal backdrop
provides a picturesque setting for wedding photographs.
Most of the weddings take place on the Cretan Labyrinth,
a spiritual meditation path in honor of the female deity
then walked by Christians symbolic of a pilgrimage to Jerusalem.
The inn is complete with Off the Lip Ocean Gear and Gifts
that carries sundries, swimwear, polarized Maui Jim sunglasses,
towels and T-shirts with the Inns favorite slogan St.
Augustine a Quaint drinking village with a slight fishing
problem.
Come by land or by boat. The docking facilities provide
two boatlifts for watercrafts weighing up to 7000 pounds.
There is a typical seven-foot draw at tide. Crescent Beach
is famous for evening trout fishing, and guests enjoy fishing

St. Augustine is centrally located for events in Dayton & Jacksonville
such as NASCAR, Bike Week, Florida/Georgia Game, PGA, and
2005 Super bowl. St. Augustine has several local events
hosting the King Fish Tournament, Nights of Lights, First
Friday Art Walk, and Art & Seafood Festivals.
Channel Marker 71 Barrier Island hosts several parties
throughout the year. One being Marti Grass with all proceeds
going to Learn to read of St. Johns County Inc.
