The Verdant Surroundings of Barrier Island Inn
Directly on the Intracoastal Water Way with boating access, the Inn hosts a 650-foot boardwalk dock. Guests enjoy viewing the protected estuaries, an Audubon lovers' bird sanctuary, manatees, and the 1740 National Monument Fort Matanzas. Across the river is a newly acquired 4,200 acres conservation land by the U.S. Forestry, Fort Mantanzas.

Opening as a Bed and Breakfast in 2001, the owners quickly realized they were an exclusive marina resort complete with a full service restaurant, Jewel of the Sea, gift shop, Off the Lip Ocean Gear & Gifts, and ten luxurious appointments, all unique with excellent amenities including mini refrigerators, cable TV, phones, Internet access, and private baths. The five signature suites host waterfront balcony views with Jacuzzis or shower spas. All qualify as honeymoon suites. The grandeur and the tropical splendor demand the attention of the Spanish architectural detail and interior design arousing everyone's sensuality. Original Spanish quarter tile throughout the structure, antiques, and designer furnishings have been employed in the eclectic interior design. It is perfect location for corporate retreats, coastal weddings, or a romantic get away. The area is known for its golf amenities, charter fishing, and now with the Island Massage and Skin opening just a mile north of the inn, the girl's get-a-way spa packages are in hot demand. On site there are 2 pools, a resistance swimming pool and a Jacuzzi. The pools are marsh & waterfront. While relaxing in the pools, bathers become participants with the natural habitat whether by day or the evening constellation.

The Jewel of the Sea, our Inn-house restaurant is open to the public Wed- Sunday serving brunch and dinner. It hosts a panoramic view of the Intracoastal Water Way and breathtaking sunsets. With the casual atmosphere of coastal living, evening attire is anything from nautical wear to dinner jackets and cocktail dresses. A handcrafted wine cellar adorns the dinning area and is stocked with three hundred bottles of domestic and imported wines as well as beers. Featuring every Wed. night wine tasting on the dock and dinner following, a little Wine 101. Fares are reasonably priced, and all specialties featuring EuroFloribbean cuisine, that is European / Floridian / Caribbean. Gourmands will savor Black Angus beef, local seafood, pasta, and chicken dishes served by Bryant Loeffler Executive Chef and Brittany Michael Sous Chef.

Reservations are required as the restaurant is popular with the locals and special events are often booked a year in advance.
The Oldest City in the Nation is also known for romantic get-a-ways and weddings. The Inn hosts several weekend weddings throughout the year up to 150 guests with full service catering capabilities. The Intracoastal backdrop provides a picturesque setting for wedding photographs. Most of the weddings take place on the Cretan Labyrinth, a spiritual meditation path in honor of the female deity then walked by Christians symbolic of a pilgrimage to Jerusalem.

The inn is complete with Off the Lip Ocean Gear and Gifts that carries sundries, swimwear, polarized Maui Jim sunglasses, towels and T-shirts with the Inns favorite slogan St. Augustine a Quaint drinking village with a slight fishing problem.
Come by land or by boat. The docking facilities provide two boatlifts for watercrafts weighing up to 7000 pounds. There is a typical seven-foot draw at tide. Crescent Beach is famous for evening trout fishing, and guests enjoy fishing off the end of the dock. Our GPS coordinates are 29 45. 021N 081 14.794W.
St. Augustine is centrally located for events in Dayton & Jacksonville such as NASCAR, Bike Week, Florida/Georgia Game, PGA, and 2005 Super bowl. St. Augustine has several local events hosting the King Fish Tournament, Nights of Lights, First Friday Art Walk, and Art & Seafood Festivals.
